When they we get together in a next week for the first(?) Lowcountry blogger party, you can be sure if anyone shows up in pajamas, they won’t be made of flannel. According to GMLc it was 86 degrees with 91 predicted (at 1:47 p.m.). Sure, I could have used an actual weather service for my source, but after learning that local bloggers are reading and writing about this blog, how can I not spread the love around a little?
The party’s a great idea, but what I’m really looking forward to is the Uplifter meeting this Saturday. It’s the DIY, embracing independence, and sharing of knowledge, which, as we all know is power, ideology that I want to support. Upon describing this to C., he immediately brought up what great timing this is as recently I was going into one of my occasional laments over missing teaching. (Yes, I am swamped with work and deadlines right now. Kidding — it’s not always a case of the grass being greener — I do actually miss academics, students, and so on … just because. Because of all the reasons that I simply do not have time to go into right now; see how that works?)
“Teaching? It’s the learning I’m looking forward to,” I replied, meaning via Uplifter, of course. (Though, hopefully, I may have something or other to offer, too. I like exchange. I like give and take.
